Recovery Coaching

What is Recovery Coaching?
Recovery coaching is support for an individual either beginning or engaged in the process of addressing an addiction.
Unlike a therapist or sponsor, a recovery coach works with an individual to craft a specific and personalized plan to address an addiction. The support includes non-clinical guidance, accountability and motivation. The degree of support is personalized from daily or weekly or monthly—taking into consideration family, work and social needs. The coach is a mentor, helping an individual set and achieve personal goals for recovery by removing obstacles and connecting them to resources.
The level of intensity may vary from intervention to attending events to providing strategies as needed to help a person remain sober or abstinent—and providing other resources necessary for a strong recovery. Recovery coaching is especially helpful for a person who needs a special degree of confidentiality or privacy, or who would like personalized support.
How does Recovery Coaching work?
Recovery Coaching is one on one—either in person or on Zoom.
Always confidential, I work with an individual to assess the addiction, history, life impact and overall needs. Together we make a plan that includes education, social supports, and crafting scripts as needed for family or work or friends. As a recovery coach I help an individual to navigate their world while remaining sober, clean or abstinent. Our work complements clinical care and focuses on the day-to-day aspects of living a sober/abstinent and healthy lifestyle.
